There has been a rumour going around that Alfa Romeo are planning to unveil a compact crossover in Geneva next month, but a new revelation by Berj Alexanian, PR Manager for Alfa Romeo and Maserati adds more weight to it by stating that:
“Alfa Romeo will be at the Geneva Motor Show in full force with our award-winning lineup and something new up our sleeves as well. We're excited to show everyone a taste of what’s next in the world of Italian performance and luxury. Stay tuned on March 5 to see a glimpse into the next chapter of Alfa Romeo's legendary story.”
It’s not a confirmation about the rumoured new sub-Stelvio SUV model, but at least it seems the 108-year-old Italian automatker is up to something new.
Come to think of it, it might be a concept car or a teaser instead of a production-ready vehicle. When car makers start talking about a “glimpse into the next chapter”, it most likely means you can't place an order for one any time soon.
Alfa's 2018-2022 product roadmap above shows that Alfa Romeo is refreshing its entire range. The MiTo is out, while in the compact segment there will be a new Giulietta and crossover.
The Giulia saloon and Stelvio SUV will get mid-cycle facelifts and will also get long-wheelbase versions for extra rear legroom. A bigger SUV is also on the roadmap, and there are indications it will go by the name of “Castello”.
Two specialty models (that have already been teased above) are going to make a comeback by 2022: the Alfa Romeo GTV and 8C sports cars.
